CONCEPTS, KNOWLEDGE, REASONING, PROBLEM SOLVING.
Interdisciplinary section organized within the Second Biennial Conference
on Cognitive Science
(June 9-13, 2006, St.-Petersburg, Russia).
We welcome discussions on the following topics:
- Knowledge and reasoning in natural and artificial intelligence
- Recognizing, defining, and representing problems
- Solving complex problems
- Metacognition and problem solving
- Domain-specific and general specific in problem solving
- Concept formation/shift during problem solving
- General models/mechanisms of problem solving
- Problem solving as a method to study cognitive development
The Section is scheduled for one half working day of the conference.
The working languages of the Section are Russian and English.
We invite all professionals and specialists in the fields of cognitive
sciences to submit an abstract. If you wish to participate please send
your abstracts on the topics suggested above to the BOTH following address:
vfs@supernet.ru and cogsci06@cs.msu.su.
Abstracts can be submitted in either English or Russian as an attachment
in Word (doc) format. Please do not write your abstract in the body of
the message. Abstracts should be no longer than 2 pages (Times New Roman
12 size, single-spaced) including bibliography and graphs.
The body of the message should include:
- the title of the paper
- the author(s) information, including:
- full name
- affiliation
- educational status or degree (undergraduate student, graduate
student, Ph.D., etc.)
- postal address
- phone number
- e-mail address
- 5 to 7 keywords
- the title of the Workshop
Please do not include this information in the attachment.
DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: November 15,
2005.
The Program Committee will inform the authors of its decision of acceptance
no later than February 15, 2006.
